Volkl V-Sense V1 Pro Racquet Review

Introducing the 3rd generation of the V1 Pro, Volkl’s answer to the player who wants a light player’s racquet with a plush feel and precise targeting on full cuts. At 11.3 ounces this stick is perfect for intermediates, but it should also work very well for the advanced player who values easy acceleration. Like the previous generation (Super G V1), the new V-Sense V1 Pro balances excellent control with a surprising level of pop. Volkl gives this stick a Precise Power Beam, which features a slightly less rounded profile for a more classic Volkl feel. The layup has been retooled with C3 Material, a uniquely strong tri-carbon matrix that enables a more strategic calibration of stiffness across the frame. From the baseline the V1 Pro feels instantly arm-friendly. It offers plenty of control and feel, but it also won’t make you struggle to keep the ball deep. Although it is not as stable as a traditional 12+ ounce player’s racquet, the V1 Pro feels impressively solid for its modest 11.3 ounces. Like everything else about this racquet, spin comes easy. At net the V1 Pro never feels sluggish, and it gets the job done on reaction volleys, put-aways and touch shots. Volkl has produced a great update to the V1 Pro. With user-friendly levels of power, control and spin, this comfortable racquet should appeal to wide cross section of intermediate and advanced players.

  • I've used all three generations of the V1 Pro and for me, the 1st Gen Organix is still the best. It's a firmer, more responsive frame compared to the more flexible, dampened Super G or V-Sense which is slightly less flexy than the Super G but still muted and a little too spongey for me. I always customise my V1's with 8 grams of lead on the handle and a leather grip. The extra weight improves balance and stability hugely and makes the racket a bit stiffer with better control and plough. So even though I just bought the new V-Sense V1's, I still find myself going back to my trusty old Organix models. Volkl got it right first time and should have stuck with them

  • I like the new v sense technology it really reduces vibration making this a more arm elbow friendly racquet though I still would not consider this to be a top arm elbow friendly racquet because it is a bit too stiff.
