  • Hmm I just watched a video saying that 2020 will be the year to upgrade to a new TV set as atsc 3.0 will be coming to devices and certain markets as well as future proof HDMI 2.1 and more manufacturers will be using OLED tech in their sets

  • oled is great for 2 years … burn in …. if you use the tv often you will get burn in. Your best bet is to find a led , ips panel , 120hz native .

  • Need a 2020 update for this and a rule to exclude RGBW subpixel layouts which objectively are marketing garbage. Maybe also detailing the mess that is the various competing HDR formats.

  • Informative. A lot of things to consider when buying my next TV. As far as the curbed, that's just your personal preference. There's nothing bad about it but there's nothing Superior about it either.

  • #5 Ability to OTA Channel Scan ADD option which is critical when an antenna rotor is used.

    NOTE: The curved screen is very good if you sit very close (like I do!)

  • In my case I was looking for refresh rates and frames per second. ie: 240hz @ 120FPS Don't forget to also find one that as a very dark realistic back color.
    FPS= Life like

  • The things I've been looking out for are:
    Does it have HDR?
    Is it definitely 4K resolution?
    Size?
    How many HDMI ports? (Usually not much of an issue but still worth checking)
    The type of stand. Is it a single stand in the middle or is it multiple legs as most seem to have legs and you need to make sure the surface you want to put it on can support it correctly. We noticed that the 55" one I got couldn't go where we thought it would as both legs needed to be on the surface and it was too wide.

    I went to a store and was told several TVs were 4K and I put money down on them but after taking note of the model number and going home I noticed they were not 4K but we're in fact Full HD (only up to 1080p). I changed the deposit into another TV and found out it was 4K but after I got it home I noticed it did not support HDR. I was bummed so I'm selling it to get one with HDR. Just being 4K didn't make it feel like much of an improvement, it just seemed like a nice sharp image but didn't wow me. Most people would probably be happy with it but if you're into your tech then you'd probably want the best you can get.

  • What are your thoughts on QLED? I just got a great deal on a 6-Series 4K TCL Roku TV features 4K UHD picture with QLED color technology, and Dolby Vision HDR. I'm not sure how to find what panel type it is.

  • nice vid, one thing that I noticed you did not touch on is refresh rate. 60hrz vs 120 hrz to 240hrz.. and then there is the true motion tech on top of that as well, which some people get confused about. If you watch a lot of fast paced sports, or action packed movies, you may want a higher refresh rate I've been told.
